Verdant Landscape Architecture is designing the landscape expansion at this historic library in Westford, Massachusetts. The original architectural facade which faces the historic Town Green will be preserved, meanwhile an improved and enlarged addition toward the rear will modernize and accommodate improved outdoor spaces as well as better parking facilities. The design features a curvilinear shaped drop off, plant beds, and outdoor reading patios. A hierarchy of paving materials highlights the curves, providing legibility to the main entry; meanwhile unit pavers decorate multi-functional patio areas for outdoor reading rooms and events. The design allows a high level of flexibility and accessibility and a variety of seating options.
